J. B. Sykes, Jr. founded Rebel Auction Company in 1980.
J. B. started in the equipment business in 1965 with the late Pete Yokley of Pulaski, TN. Following Pete's death, J. B. started Rebel Auction Company. He was a graduate of Mississippi State
University with a degree in Sales and Advertising. In his lifetime, J. B. handled well over one thousand auction sales. Under his leadership, Rebel
Auction has grown to be one of the leaders in the farm, construction, and truck auction business. J. B. passed away on August 26, 1998, but Rebel Auction will
continue as he wished under the leadership of Bobby and Kim Maxey.
Bobby Maxey, J. B.'s son-in-law, is the auctioneer and President of Rebel Auction Sales, Inc. Bobby graduated from Mississippi State University
in 1988 with a degree in Agricultural Economics. He is also a graduate of the Nashville School of Auctioneering. Bobby is owner of Rebel Farms in Indianola. He has
worked with Rebel Auction since 1985. Bobby took over the reins of Rebel Auction in 1998 following J. B.'s death.
Kim Maxey, Bobby's wife and J. B.'s daughter, is the office manager for Rebel Auction. She handles the day to day operations from our office in
Indianola and the office at the sale site on the day of the sale. She graduated from Mississippi State University in 1988 with a degree in Marketing.
Hugh Smith of Brandon, MS is our sales manager.
Hugh has been involved in the equipment business for over 40 years. He was associated with T & H Equipment Company and T & H Auction Company for
many years. He has been with Rebel Auction since its founding.
Our fieldmen are Ray Vail of Itta Bena, MS,
Johnny Gray of Eutaw, AL and M. A. Tankesly of Indianola. Ray has been with our company for the past several years.
He farmed for 30 years in the Leflore county area and is very knowledgeable about farm and trucking equipment. Johnny farms and raises cattle in the west
Alabama area. Johnny has worked with Rebel Auction for over 15 years. M. A. has been in the retail equipment business in recent years and has extensive
farm equipment knowledge. He began working with Rebel Auction when J. B. founded the company.
Our ringmaster is Jeff Anthony of Indianola, MS. Jeff is a local farmer and custom farm operator. He has been associated
with Rebel Auction since its founding. Allen McPherson and Johnny Gray are our ringmen. Allen is from Indianola.
He has worked with the company for several years. He has farmed part-time in addition to working at Parchman State Penitentiary.
Assisting Kim in the office, as cashiers are Pat Visconti of Indianola and Kim Gullett
of Inverness, MS. Pat is recently retired from being a salesperson in the material handling business for 17 years. She has been working with us at
the sales for several years. Kim has been working with Rebel Auction for the past year. Our office staff strives to give our customers personal, courteous
and efficient service.
